Can anyone tell me why the maple trees are producing so much syrup/sap? You can literally see it raining out of the trees. I've never seen this before.

  Woodpeckers?

    I've seen that happen in spring, they "tap" the tree and then all the other critters come for a treat.

  At this time of year that seems weird indeed. You're talking more than one tree??
