Hello all, long-time reader, first-time caller. Nice to be here!
My partners are designing a maloca-type structure - usually open air beam structures in the round with thatched roof - though their plans include glass walls to temper the elements down. The design includes a circular hole in the center of the roof and they intend to have a fireplace in the center venting out this hole. Being the man in charge of growing our materials, I've laid the concept of Rocket Mass Heater on them and they're impressed, if not 100% persuaded.
My questions to fully suade them are
1. the possibility of routing exhaust all the way to the ceiling (a good 6 meters / 20 ft)
2. any danger of heat expansion with glass walls
I imagine the radius (RMH being in the center of the circle) will be 4 or 5 meters / ~12-16 ft and the outside temperatures do not exceed 36C 98F. I'm pulling for an earth floor, wood is another option they're considering.
Given our dodgy internet connection I haven't been able to research extensively, so forgive me if this one's a no-brainer. I'm very excited to share more of our project with you all! The land, the soil, and the project are themselves quite special, and I have loads of questions and a bit of insight. Thanks very much!
