I'm in Southwest Idaho and am looking for someone to do custom haying with small bales.  I am having a really hard time finding anyone who will do small bales.  I was wondering if anyone here might know of someone?  Thanks!

I am living on the family farm, and am the fifth generation here. My parents had always said whoever stayed to care for the land would inherit it solely. now that everyone is aging and I am pushing to take over legitimately my dad has changed his mind indicating that my sibling would need to be compensated for "her half". I had not planned for this and am caught a bit off guard. additionally my dad does not want to put anything concrete in his will, he wants us to "figure it out" after he is gone.......that never works well. my mate and I have become more and more responsible for the happenings on the farm in general and since my mother's death have increased our familial obligations to my father as well. in the interest of making sure my family does not come to blows and that the land continues to have a good steward I am wanting to secure the property now. Ideally I would just have enough cash in the bank to give him full market value and be done with it, but of course I don't. he will also want to continue to live on the land and moonlight until he has passed. I was hoping someone out there might have some creative ideas for financing that would be fair and ultimately legally binding.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Yes, i'm still in SW Idaho. Desert like with cold somewhat snowey winters. I keep toggling back and forth on what building method would be ideal.

Hello all. My boyfriend and I are desperately needing to procure a home. I am able to build on my family's farm so space is not an issue. Ideally I would love to build a straw-bale house but I don't think we have the time and energy it would take to build something with any real integrity from scratch. We would love to do a lot of the work ourselves to cut costs but we really need something can would come together quickly. It may be considered somewhat blasphemous in the permies circle but I have been researching modular/pre-fab type "green" homes. I have yet to find anything that I'm sold on and was wondering if anyone had any tips out there? Or if there aren't any good prefab options does anyone have any suggestions for a truly efficient (both in speed to build and sustainability) build? We have a baby and may try for another which is part of what's causing the time constraint. I also work full time off the farm and have to commute. We are hoping to build a modest home but not one of the "tiny" houses.

Any insight is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello,

I am very new to this site but have a growing interest in permaculture and sustainable agriculture. I am definitely a novice here but am interested in learning. I have been doing the internet dating thing in the area for a while but have not found anyone with shared goals so I thought I would post here and see what happened. I am currently 35 but will turn 36 very soon. I am most comfortable dating men ages 30-43. I currently have a "regular" job in the Boise area but live about 45 minutes outside of town in an agriculture community. I do enjoy the city with cultural events and restaurants but I also very much like living in the country where I can work on projects and live what I consider to be a better life. I am looking to expand that country lifestyle into a more sustainable one and hope to acquire land in the future. I would very much like to start on this adventure with a partner in crime. I am looking for a man who is interested in this lifestyle but also someone who is balanced and likes to travel and enjoy cultural events. In short I am looking for someone who is comfortable in both worlds, rural and city but who wants to make the rural scene home base.

More general about me.....I'm 5'8 and have blue eyes. I try and take care of myself with a healthy lifestyle but do enjoy an occasional day with a movie and beer. I am a foodie and love to cook all kinds of food from all different cultures. I have an undergrad degree and a professional job. I am close to my family and still have hopes of starting one of my own in the future. I love to hike and be outside. I believe I am kind and considerate but maintain good boundaries and try to be assertive.

More about what I'm looking for....I'm looking for a man who takes care of himself and is active but not obsessively so. I am looking for a partner who is kind, loving, assertive, strong, honest, and open minded. I am looking for someone who speaks their mind and maintains good boundaries but manages to do so without stepping on others. I am looking for someone grounded and well balanced. Ideally this person would be up for living in a straw bale house in the country that we built together but think a week exploring NYC would be a great adventure too.

Kind regards. -C
