Hi Nate,  Interesting project of your friend: the rir x breese.  Should be a great combo!  Just another reason to keep heritage flocks around.....so we can make wonderful F1 hybrids.  This cross also makes me think of the developement of the Lamona breed.  

I have property in south east Missouri, Shannon county.  Was wondering if anyone on the area was working with any heritage chicken breeds (listed on the livestock conservancy site).  Even if we werent working with the same breeds maybe we could still collaborate.  I don't have a flock yet, still deciding.  Just trying to source local:)  I'm interested in the old standards: new hamshires, rhode islands, barred rocks australorps  etc.....basically good dual purpose breeds  

Any fellow heritage chicken breeders in the neighborhood?

Hi my fellow permie friends and neighbors! I'm looking to get some goat fence & I'm in south central (Houston/Mt. View area). Been trying to find a good source on goat/sheep fence (4x4. not electric). Any leads or suggestions would be much appreciated. I'm looking at least 9 rolls of 330ft.

Hey Tom, thanks for the input. I was aware of the Madrid fault prior to my land purchase a few years ago. I don't think there is any place you can 100 % avoid a natural catastrophe. I don't know what the actual odds are, but I'm more worried about getting a storm shelter put in there for a tornado. Then there's always the critters:venomous snakes & spiders.

Hope the search is going well. If nothing is turning up let me know. I do have a property in that area that I'm starting to consider for rent/lease. I was hoping to spend much more time there, but it hasn't worked out as planned.

Hey CJ....yeah, I guess I didn't know which state to put since I have a foot in both AK and MO:) I've actually had to have items sent to my Missouri address so I could physically take them back to Alaska.

Hey CJ, I do order from Amazon & still run into shipping issues. Many places will not ship to Alaska or Hawaii.
