That sounds amazing and I bet that 6 year old grows up to be an awesome person!

Thank you for the wealth of information Devin! We will definitely have to check out B'ham (love that nickname) when we get settled.  It sounds like a wonderful place and I am always in the hunt for a good burrito! We will hopefully be making a stop at Wheaton Labs. Maybe to stay for a night!

Hello fellow Permies!

My better half and I will be traveling through your area en route to our new home in Point Roberts, Washington! We will be leaving near the end of August and we are wondering if you all have any suggestions on places to see while we are passing through or vegan places to eat! We are traveling from Minnesota and will be primarily on I-90 west.  Stopping to see Mount Rushmore and possibly Yellowstone are the only two things on the agenda right now.  We are also traveling with our 'fur babies' (1 dog, 2 cats) all of which have leashes so we can go explore together.  Seeing the cats on leashes might be the best thing I've seen! So yeah! If you have any ideas on where to stay, where to eat, or places to see please feel free to respond to the forum or give me a moosage! I hope all your weekends have been filled with fun and adventure!

Hello all you wonderful permies!

My better half and myself will be moving to Point Roberts Washington at the end of August! I have accepted a job out there working for an organic and vegan clothing company. It still doesn't seem real that it is happening!! Anyways, we are wondering if there are any permies around the Point Roberts area. It is such a peculiar town but we are very excited to call it home. Vancouver is only 40 minutes away and Seattle is about 2 hours.  We are looking for new friends to connect with and adventure Cascadia with! We, of course, love nature, hiking, canoeing, backpacking, eating out at awesome vegan restaurants, going to music events, or just people watching! We will also be traveling from Minnesota so if any of you have any cool places we should stop and check out on our way west we are all ears.  I believe we are going to Mount Rushmore and hopefully Yellowstone. We have never been out west before so it is a completely new adventure! We look forward to hearing from you!

Greetings future friends! My better half and I will be fulfilling a dream of ours this September by moving from Minnesota to Asheville! We would love find new friends and potential jobs or housing opportunities!

About us:

Evan - 26 years old, vegan, sober (does not drink or smoke - loves kombucha!) loves sports (would love to find a basketball league to join!), loves animals of all walks, has a degree in music and worked in the industry in Minneapolis, backpacking/hiking, permaculture, wants to be able to live sustainably/environmentally friendly and off grid at some point, passionate about the arts!

Mercedes- 23 years old, vegan, sober, loves animals (especially manatees!), obsessed with harry potter, yoga addict, will be attending college once we move for early childhood development, loves children and is currently a nanny, she crafts her heart out and is very artistic, makes the tasties home cooked vegan meals!

We also have a loving dog named Milton and 2 cats named Shiva and Maverick who will be joining us on our adventure!

We are looking for similar minded people i.e health conscious to an extent and loves being outdoors. We are ok if you smoke or drink but would prefer it not be on a party animal level! We are also ok if you eat meat as we respects everyones freedoms! We are very clean and like to have random acts of fun everyday! If we sound like a match for what you are looking for, please, feel free to send us a message! Thanks for reading our ad!

Hello Janell!

I'm sure this position has been filled so I'm wondering how often opportunities come along at Ashevillage?! My best friend and I will be moving to Asheville in the early fall and are looking for new friends, a place to call home, and jobs a little early! Ashevillage sounds amazing and I will definitely be stopping by to say hi at the very least when we arrive! I hope your extended weekend has been wonderful!

Sean Holt wrote:Hi Evan (and everyone else),

I am a new poster as well, although I have been a member of the forum for a while. Just have not been active. I live in the northern part of the Twin Cities suburbs and just started the free online "Intro to Permaculture" course through Oregon State University.

If you do a search on Facebook, there is a Twin Cities Permaculture Guild group. Some of the members are from outside of the cities including the Fairbault area. There are also quite a few "Pages" on FB for permaculture in Minnesota. PRI Cold Climate is one, you can also find many of them through postings in the group mentioned above.

Since you will be in the Rochester area, be sure to check out Kinstone. http://www.kinstonecircle.com/ It is just over the river in Wisconsin. I haven't been there yet myself, but it is on the list.

Sean

Hello Sean!

Thank you for the reply! I just signed up for the Oregon course as well. It's amazing what is offered free if you look a little bit! Thank you for the PRI cold climate mention, I looked them up and am now following them! If you need a friend to go over to kinstone or need help on a project, I would love to tag along!
