Hi Antonis,

Your plans and your value system sound great! You can PM the links to the places that you're going to visit. I haven't been to Greece and I'm not sure if I'll travel anywhere this year, but once the pandemic subsides, I'll probably continue exploring places.

Sent you a message

Hi Marlene,

I haven't travelled or volunteered for a while either, nor actively thought about permaculture. I'll send you in a personal message (because I'm not sure one is allowed to put links here) some links to places that may not necessarily be built on permaculture principles, but which aim at sustainable/eco-friendly living.

Thanks for the suggestion, Nick! There are plenty of videos for me to watch on his channel and I'm looking forward to finding out more about his project.

As for the situation here regarding permaculture, it's still a pretty unknown thing. I know or have read about a handful of people who were trying to organize their lives along those principles (at least to some extent), but all of those attempts were in their initial stages when I found out about them. In the meantime, some failed, some stagnated, some seem to have made progress... I haven't actively researched the topic for a while now (for various reasons), so this is based on what I witnessed in the past. I hope things have changed for the better, though

Hi Jacob, nice to hear that  Is there an eco-community where you live, or is only your family passionate about permaculture?

@Fil
Any luck finding similar-minded Romanians here? I'm from the neighbouring Serbia, so Romania is one of the countries I'd like to volunteer in or move to if I find the right community.

Any new permies from the Balkans on these forums?

Cool. It's good to know that.

You seem to have a great plan for the future - and I wish you all the best with it! It's really brave to move to a foreign country and start building up everything pretty much from scrath. I'm glad you found the place and people you like - those two things are crucial. Was it hard obtaining all the necessary documents in order to buy land, get a visa/residence permit/whatever?

Sebastian, thanks for your offer! Right now I'm focusing on the Balkans because travelling to other countries would be much more expensive, but if you want, we can talk about your household/farm/community/whatever it is... Who knows? Maybe you convince me that Abkhazia is just the place that I'm looking for
