Biography
I have been travelling here there and everywhere and have finally decided to root for a little while.

Having volunteered at projects through Central America and read probably a library's worth of permaculture books, I finally completed by PDC. I am in the process of completing my diploma and am working as the project manager and in-house permaculturist for a project in DR, where we are turning a farm into a permie school.

Hey awesome fellows,

Earlier this week, I posted to say I would be starting a free wekly newsletter to help permie entrepreneurs. I'm on a bit of a self-education journey myself, and thought it would be a great idea to collate what I'd learned each week  and put it in one concise email so you can learn along with me.

The first post has gone out, so I thought I would share it. If you'd like to receive this handy resource straight to your inbox, just click 'follow' in the bottom right hand button and add your email!

If you'd like to sponsor me on my journey to create a sustainable business incubator, you can support my newsletter on my Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/permieemmy

Thanks for all the support everyone!

Hi everyone

I have a goal to build a working permaculture model that serves as a business incubator for regenerative/permaculture startups/entrepreneurs.

I've found that in trying to find resources, I'm pulling from all over the show and feel that a central source of resources would really help my journey. As I'm finding my own legs in this journey, I've decided to start a weekly newsletter that provides resources to others on the same journey - hoping to build themselves as sustainable entrepreneurs providing useful, regeenerative businesses.

Each week, I'll be releasing 3-5 resources from which I've drawn wisdom from each week. They'll be split into the categories of self-care (no entrepreneur will sustain themseves without looking after themselves first), entrepreneurial strategy, and permaculture. I'm providing actionable insights to help build businesses while also building oneself to support that.

In providing this handy tool, straight to your inbox, I hope to give you a quicker way to find useful content. My thought is that all the searching for resources makes us all unsure what to listen to and where to go. Instead, I'm hand curating these resources from the plethora of things I read, watch, and listen to each week - to help us all out as I go. After all, if I'm doing it anyway, it's only right to pass it on.

The first newsletter goes out on Friday, and you can sign up on either my website or my Patreon (don't worry both are free!): https://permieemmy.com or https://www.patreon.com/permieemmy.

Here's a little insight into the journey I'm taking and why I'm doing this; I hope you'll all join me on my learning journey so we can all provide better fair share economically viable businesses to disrupt this mess we call a market!

Hi homeschoolers!

I am in the process of doing my permaculture diploma and have started offering a blog with various resources. I would like to focus toward the more social side of permaculture in my life and career and feel that eductaion is one of the most important parts of this, especially the cross-curricular aspect, if you will. I feel that permaculture has the potential to touch so many different subjects and would love to produce some resources for homeschoolers to use with their kids and to tie in with their own homesteading - effectively bringing both adults and children into a learning space together.

I was wondering what kind of resources would be useful to you?

I am going to be situated in Nicaragua for the next foreseeable future and will be buildign a garden and making natural products. I was thinking that I could offer a few how-to activity videos of how to build the garden and make products that kids could get involved in, with the educational aspect of getting them to think about the science, maths, and entrepreneurial side. Equally, I thought I could provide some worksheets and printable resources, as well as possibly a monthly live video where kids and parents could ask questions (I was thinking I could poll the topic each month).

It would be amazing to get the communitty's feedback on what you think would help you to provide great permie education to your kids!

Thanks

Hi guys, I'm doing my Permie Diploma so I thought I'd document everything along the way and I can share it with people and they can see all the exciting stuff I learn as I go and also what to expect if they choose to do theirs. I'm currently in the Dominican Republic and a couple of weeks ago I learned to make coconut oil and thought it was a great cottage industry idea to share here. It's pretty simple and it's a fun way to try out your rocket stove ideas too

Permie Emmy - How to Make Coconut Oil

Here is a little sample:

.Recently, I've been in the Dominican Repermies. My boss, Carolina, decided one day that we would make coconut oil. I had always been under the impression that making oil was a cumbersome and frankly too difficult task for the likes of me, despite never having actually researched the process. I found out, however, that pretty much every Dominican woman knows how to make coconut oil, as they use it for their hair. This is why I'm on this journey though, isn't it. To learn the cultural practices and hands-on skills that are utilised by varying peoples worldwide, to enhance their lives and remain self-sufficient to a certain extent. I'm like an art curator, collecting these skills in the basket of my brain, creating an encyclopedia of self-sustainability in my mind, and then sharing it with all of you. So, despite the self-imposed barrier imagining the difficulty of making coconut oil, it's quite a simple process. Here's how you can do it at home:
You will need:

Two coconuts
Water
A heating device
A sieve
If you want to get super rudimental like we did, you can do this in a self-made rocket stove, or as I watched local all-round handy-lady, Lucia, you can make it over an open fire.

Enjoy!

Hi Everyone,

I wasn't quite sure under which section to put this, and I want it to reach as many eyes and ears as possible, so I've put it in a few as I would really love to drum up some help and support from the community.

We are building a permaculture school in the Dominican Republic which will help to combine native Dominican techniques with tropical permaculture and agroecology methods to provide an education into self-sustainability and regenerative agriculture. The owner, a native Dominican woman named Carolina, has been working on the land to build a biodiverse food forest and supporting gardens for 16 years and now wants to open the space to help give back to her local community. Our aim is to host courses to international guests which will fund free education for local kids. We are currently trying to raise funds to build accommodations and classrooms in order to kick this project off.

We invite you to support us with your donations and by sharing our link. If you are planning to complete your Permaculture Design Course, you can see a very affordable donation option through our Kickstarter which will provide you with a certified PDC plus food and accommodation on our course in the fall. Please also pass this link on to anyone you feel can help us!

Thank you so much to the community for your support!
