Biography
I am a 62 year old who has done what they could living the city, recently moved to the country and ready to develop my own little permaculture (8.75 acres of clear cut timber land) and build an earth ship style home. How close to true earth ship remains to be seen. My goal is to build as I can afford it and be debt free when I'm done.

It's still plastic, which I don't want to buy (and be the cause of it being produced) but I don't feel bad about using the huge pieces of plastic that I get from the lumber yard. They come covering the big packages of lumber that they get regularly. Some of them are in great condition and one of them was about 25' long, maybe 10 or 12' wide. If I were dedicated enough I'd turn down a hem and put grommets in it and have a proper tarp. But I usually just put weights on them and it works well. This keeps it out of the landfill for a while anyway, and I didn't cause it be made so I don't feel so badly about it.

I wish you lived closer to me. We could be friends. I live the same way, am at the library to get online.

I washed off grid, hand pumping my water for a summer. I could wash well in about 2 gallons of water. Put about 3-4 of cups in a small tub, wet and wash with a washcloth, rinse with that same water. Start at the top, working my way down. When done, do a final rinse with the leftover water by pouring it over myself. Could do it with less but I like a better rinse. I heated the water in the sun, in an aluminum stock pot with a glass lid turned upside down. After a day in the sun I had to mix in some cool water because it was too hot.

Thought I'd give an update on my place and the ticks on it. I haven't seen a tick in nearly a year. I had 6 guineas that ran free, brought 4 young possums from a friend's who had them born under their porch. I still have 2 dogs and a cat that run around so I think they would be showing me more of them if they were still around. to be fair, I've still been treating the dogs and cat with topical stuff just in case they get bit, so they won't spread them again. Any time I go out in the brush I take a B complex vitamin and that seems to make me pretty odious to ticks as well. So there's my update.

Maybe I just haven't found it yet, but is there a printed instruction sheet for willow feeders? I am building a house and would very much like to include a willow feeder.

To get into this program I'm going to need to retire. Well, that and finish building my house. It's a great program and I hope to some day get into it but not today. There just aren't enough hours (and too many responsibilities) right now.

Thanks so much. 😊
I don't know how to edit that list but I live in Pierce County, WA state and would welcome like minded people to come play on my place. Contact me if you're interested.
