Biography
Hey Fellow Permies,

Can you believe this site exists? I was blown away when I first discovered it...

Anyways, my name is Rick and I live in the Snohomish County, WA area with my wife and young son. We currently live in a nice travel trailer and, like most people, are doing what we need to to get by.

My dream, however; is a big one. I would love to one day have a demonstration farm where people can stay in unique natural buildings and attend workshops and retreats on subjects ranging from permaculture and biodynamic ag. to potential free energy technologies, meditation, and mystery traditions including but not limited to Rosicrucianism.

For now though, I'm just here to connect with awesome people and learn as much as I can!

Feel free to message me for no reason at all, as it is always a good day when you make a connection.

Cheers to a brighter future!

Hi Edward,

Hope you are well. If you are still looking for for partners in this venture I would love to have a conversation to get a better understanding of exactly what you're looking to get out of a JV.

You mention production farming. I have a thousand questions about potential economic models you may be considering... Do you invision doing mostly produce at farmers markets? A CSA model? Making artisan goods?

I absolutely love me some permaculture, but to get more specific to the project goals and building incomeperhaps an agroforestry model would be an ideal strategy before focusing to much on the fun "permie" stuff like rocket mass heater.

Furthermore, have you considered using a few acres for short term rentals to increase cash flow?

Anyways, just some initial stream of conciousness thoughts here... buy it definitely has the juices flowing!

I'd be happy to share more about me in PM's or email.

Cheers and hope to hear from you if you're still looking,
- Rick

Hi Heidi,

I am curious as to what came of this post, if you got land, or if you are at all still looking for something in the area.

My wife and I live in Arlington currently and have goals that are right in line with your own. I would love to chat with you more if you are still looking to do something!

We are in our late 20's and expecting our first child in March (Can't wait!), and are more than ever seeking a freedom centric, spiritually based community and lifestyle as we want to raise or son right.

Hope you are well,

- Rick

Hey friends,

I am eager to meet some like minded folks an get involved in some local events/volunteering in the Snohomish County, WA area.

I have officially reached full obsession in "strange subjects" such as permaculture, rosicrucian and hermetic philosophy, free energy tech, etc. and would love to connect with some like minded people in my area.

If you are reading this, I am sure you know that it can be difficult to connect with people who I suppose I will lovingly call "normies", of which most of life is made up of.  You know... The friends and family who encourage you to just work a good job until you retire and live in a cookie cutter suburban fever dream devoid of any meaning or connection. Terrible...

Lately it really seems like I am living in "A Tale of Two Cities", where it is the best of times (access to amazing people and information via the internet) and the worst of times (people in my actual life who care more about the road to the playoffs for a football team than vast desertification or poison food like products everywhere we look). I really want that to change.

So if you're in the area and can relate I would love to chat, and maybe together we could make something really cool happen.

Cheers,

- Rick

Hello permies in the Cascadia Region,

My wife and I currently reside in the Arlington, WA area and we are looking for a small parcel of land that we can farm and you know... get our hands dirty!

We have been looking for land in the area for years, but unfortunately the markets and interest rates are just going up. I figured that even though purchase of our own land may be out of the question for a few more years, I may be able to find someone in the area with vacant land with whom I can make a creative deal to actually get something going.

I have been studying permaculture, biodynamic ag, etc for many years and have done what I can in apartments and in some family members yards, but I would really love to have atleast a half acre to get experience, grow food, and experiment with what I have been learning.

My current thinking is that in exchange for letting us use your land, you could share in the yeilds and benefit from the long term regerative processes and beauty this can bring to your land. I am, however; open to discussing alternative arrangements as well.

I am 29, my wife is 28 and currently pregnant with our first child (WOOHOO!) and it has become more important than ever for us to seriously begin the process of reintegrating into a more natural lifestyle. (In other words I am tired of theory and study and desperately crave experience on the land!)

There is much more I could say, but if the prospect of having someone who is very serious about stewardship and regenerative processes cultivate your land, then give me a shout.

God Bless and I hope to hear from you soon,

- Rick

P.S. If you're in the area but don't fit the discription of this posting, please reach out regardless! My goal is to totaly immerse myself into this culture, and meeting amazing people who share this interest and lifestyle goal is very important to me.

Great post! Love this kind of stuff. I strongly believe that ancient civilizations were much more advanced and sophisticated in terms of living in harmony with nature, and retained the notion that their very survival was contingent upon them stewarding and regenerating natural ecosystem.

I also believe they had a much deeper understanding of water itself, a knowledge that only began to resurface in modernity with people like Viktor Schauberger. The concept of living water, and looking at everything in nature as cycles.

In permacukture, we all know the concept of succession and how natural plant death can lead to conditions perfect for the growth of a different, possibly more desirable species.

The ancients used this knowledge accross every domain of life. Very impressive people's lived back then.

Hello friends,

So here is our strange story. My wife and I currently bought a 2021 travel trailer and moved from Snohomish, WA to Sandpoint, ID with the hopes of working like he'll until we could afford land out here...

The thing is, after years of seeming infertility... we got pregnant almost as soon as we got here! It's a total miracle in our minds, but also kind of changes the plan for a short bit.

I (28 M) cannot seem to land a job anywhere over here that pays nearly enough...

So we are heading home for the time being to be near family and so I can get a higher paying position.

Home to us is near Snohomish, WA and I wanted to post on here to see if perhaps there are any permies around that area who would be interested in a work trade situation where I can help you around the property for 15-20 hours a week in exchange for a place to park our 30ft 2021 travel trailer.

I would also be working full time, but morning and evening chores, and weekends would be available for work!

If this sounds like something you may be interested in I can share more details.

Thank you!
