It's easy to get them to sprout, the hard work is growing them to maturity. After more than 6 months of being single I am hoping to find a partner to build something special with. To create a thriving homestead with and help one and other to reach out individual and collective goals. A person who is excited for a rural, off-grid lifestyle and shares an aspiration for a simple, beautiful life. Being kind and helpful to humans and critters and the earth. Someone with grit and ambition because to reach our dreams there is bound to be challenges. My 20 acre homestead is in the heart of fly-over country in northeast Missouri. I wrote a post over a year ago and will link it below so you can read more about my neighborhood and farm. The post itself was flat but accurate. I'm currently volunteering for a month in southern New Mexico at Gila Cliff Dwellings for the park service with the maintenance department. The monument is a very special place and the surrounding 500,000 acre wilderness area is beyond amazing, beyond my words. On my days off I go for day hikes and backpacking trips. I hope to come back next winter. My housemate is a 70 year old woman and I've really enjoyed getting to know her. Most of the volunteers are over 65 and one badass woman in her 80s, an inspiration. I like being around folks with different perspectives and lifestyle choices. Diversity of opinions is a gift when you let go of judgement and focus on common ground. Back home, two people I'm closest to are my parents age and very different from me in so many ways. I respect and love them, they're salt of the earth.
I am 44 and in excellent shape, though I never exercise just homestead and bike regularly. A bit over 5'11" and 140 pounds with dark brown hair and blue eyes. I'm a double Scorpio, enneagram 1 (reformer) and INJF. Introverted but I'm not shy and am comfortable talking to strangers. I am motivated but not by money or possessions. Not religious or spiritual but I believe god exists in all of us and do my best to honor my body as a temple. Have limited interest in tv/movies but will watch something once a week or so. I like to cook but enjoy eating more. I value living my beliefs but also think it's good to be able to laugh at oneself. Life isn't worth living without fun and laughter. I love my place but would consider moving for the right woman. No cigarettes, drink beer about twice a month and am currently taking a month off of ganja. I grow my own and unsure what my future consumption will look like but maybe once a day in the late afternoon or early evening or perhaps less. I'm open to altering my habits if it's an issue.
What I'd like in a partner is someone in their 30s who is physically active. Preferably someone who is better than me because I like to be challenged. A good sense of humor, a strong work ethic, a dreamer. I prefer someone who drinks irregularly or not at all and either smokes daily or less or not at all. Ideally, you'd enjoy long walks with my dog and camping and hiking and other outdoor activities. I am open to a woman who wants kids or has kids or would like it to be just us. I am happy to be involved with a religious or spiritual person. I would hope to find someone who has done their emotional work and can be in a mature, loving relationship. Open communication and the ability to be vulnerable are important to me.

My name is Jacob and I live in northeast Missouri on a 20 acre homestead I bought 3 years ago. I am looking for a partner to enjoy a simple life in the country, living close to the earth. Someone to put down deep roots with and to co-create our paradise. A woman who is feminine but can get her hands dirty. Someone to build a family with, a future, a dream. I do not want a mirror or a shadow but her own person. I'd prefer someone my age or younger who is fit and intelligent. A person to learn with and learn from. An individual who values service work and helping neighbors.
I've been living off-grid for almost 20 years on various homesteads. I heat with wood I cut and split by hand. I drink rainwater and use an outhouse. For income I grow organic veggie and flower seeds, do construction projects, and sell firewood. I grow a portion of my own food, including dry beans and small grains. I eat as much from the farm as possible and value local, whole foods. I have chickens for eggs and get cheese from a local dairy. Eat mostly a vegetarian diet. No social media and generally low screen use. I love riding my bike, long walks, camping/hiking trips, and having fires. I volunteer once a month at the food pantry and give blood regularly. I have lived in various regions of the US and love my farm. That said I'm not closed to relocating for the right person/situation. I am masculine in many respects but also am aware we live in a culture of patriarchy. I have done a lot of emotional work and value open, honest communication. I don't have a spiritual path but have explored many different faiths/philosophies. I'm agnostic but believe the universe is a great marvel and that we, everything, are all connected. The earth is our mother and I believe in honoring that and respecting her.
Over the years I have gained many skills. I have a lot of conventional and natural building experience. From design to excavation to finish work, I've built everything from a garden shed to a small house. I have limited involvement with western medicine and believe in healthy lifestyle as prevention. When sick I use plant medicines, fasting and massage to heal. In a different life I would have been a healer. I can be old fashioned in certain respects. I open doors for ladies, treat elders with respect and talk to children as equals. I say please and thank you and chew with my mouth closed. I enjoy differences in opinions and choices and think we all have to walk our own path in life.
My place is called Hickory Hill and is located a few miles from Rutledge. Across the road is Red Earth Farms (homesteading community), a mile from Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage, and a few from Sandhill Farm (community in transition). County is only around 5,000 people and almost 75% are old order mennonites. My place is over 60 miles from the interstate and a city over 100,000 is over 2 hours by vehicle. Very clear night's skies and plenty of coyotes yelping. My farm has 2 quarter acre fields where I grow seeds, a few garden plots, 5 acres of mature hardwoods, and the rest is open. I've built a garden shed, cabin, chicken coop, pole shed, outhouse and my house. Lots of my structures have attached greenhouses. Soon I would like to plant a forest garden with medicinal herbs, an orchard, and get a dog. I'd also like to preserve more food whether by canning or fermentation.
If my posts resonates feel free to send me a message and tell me about yourself. I wish y'all luck in your search for love and joy in the interim.
