I'm growing Chinese yellow horn.  It supposedly has caffeine, much hardier than yaupon and the leaf tastes alright but my plant is very small

Yaupon prepared well is very good, but in my experience its more like chocolate than coffee

Nettles are underrated.  I just learned how to get the fiber out of nettles.  I had no luck in the fall but they've naturally retted by now and it's as simple as rubbing them

Yeah I'll hook you up

They do just fine in Kentucky zone 6.  They can tolerate part shade.

We've cut them down and they readily resprout, so prune it however you'd like.  I think the cold won't be a problem if they're not out in the open, if it does kill them, do the world a favor and buy more seed

Don't use a.c. as much as you can tolerate.  A.c. prevents you from acclimating

Swamp coolers kinda work

A breeze is very nice

Electrolytes let you sweat

Long sleeves keep you from burning and keeps your sweat from dripping off you.  The thinnest fabric the better, my folks use worn white dress shirts and don't button them up

Round brim Hats

It's harder the more overweight you are

Don't work when the heat is killer.

Thermal mass in the house will make it cooler during the day and hot at night

Some people weren't made for the South, look up the latitude of England

I've had that happen with hybrid flemish giants.  They grow so big with such thin bone structure

We have a landrace flint corn, it's been in my family for a hundred years and there's nothing quite like it on the market.  I'm not saying it's super different than what's on the market but it's an early variety, with a lot of diversity.  We've got it to mature about as fast as standard sweet corn, small cobs but that's to be expected

I just found out this was edible, always thought they looked toxic.

Have you tried the sap?
What about feeding it to rabbits or other livestock?
