This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the iron badge in Dimensional Lumber Woodworking.

For this BB, you will build a Japanese tool chest!

There is not a publicly available video showing an example that meets these PEP BB requirements but here are some resources that should help.  Please make sure you have carefully read the requirements for this BB as you plan your project to make sure you meet all of them!

Here is a short video showing an example of what a Japanese Tool Chest might look like.

This video demonstrates some approaches to wood joinery for such a chest that do not use glue or metal fasteners.

This video shows a couple ways to make wooden hinges for boxes.

Here's a link to a handy guide for making various wood projects without using nails, screws, or glue which includes various types of joints, hinges, and latches.

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
  - hinge is all wood
  - must have at least two drawers and one swinging door
  - no metal
  - no glue
  - no plywood or man-made materials

To document your completion of the BB, provide proof of the following as pics or video (less than two minutes):
 - the wood you're starting with
 - the construction partially underway
 - the finished project

And when my army is complete, I will rule the world! But, for now, I'm going to be happy with this tiny ad:
