Hi there. I am pleased to announce that folks can now read about and apply for two unique natural building workshops at Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage in northeastern Missouri.
The 2012 Timber Framing Workshop (June 10-23, 2012) is shaping up to be a unique and very exciting opportunity for folks looking to gain real building skills in an incredible setting. Students will spend two full weeks at Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage learning the historic craft of timber framing using mortise and tenon joinery, focusing on the exclusive use of hand tools. In two weeks we will raise an impressive timber frame home using only hand tools with twelve students!
The Straw Bale Building Workshop is now open to applicants! Join us in July 2012 for a comprehensive 10 day straw bale construction course, where you will learn valuable skills you need to know to build your own straw bale house. You’ll get hands-on experience stacking, securing, and pinning bales, and plastering the walls with local clay. Enjoy and learn from the incredible experience of helping to build an actual home in a well-known, inspiring ecovillage community.
Ouch! I would love to go learn how to build my own buildings since I plan to use timber frame and straw bale, but poor folk can't afford them fees! I will keep this in mind though when I get ready to build, I can get twelve laborers to pay me $36,000 to help me build my house. Thanks.
