We're still having to buy our grain feeds (hopefully someday we won't) and are always looking for a good source of feed. We prefer to buy whole and cracked grains, rather than pre-mixed feeds. We have a local (literal neighbor) source for non-GMO grains, allegedly 'no-spray', but there's question about whether or not it does get sprayed. We purchased this last year's supply of grain from him because we couldn't really find an alternative in the timeframe we had. We paid a premium $440/ton :x That was a tough pill.
We've spotted 1 grainery in Sandpoint, ID that has grains $250~/ton. Probably regular spray schedule. That might be our choice this year if we can't find something better, we can't afford $440/ton this year. I haven't seen any other grain sellers but it seems like there HAS to be an organic or low/no-spray operation somewhere around Spokane at least? We'd be willing to travel if we can pick up our year's supply at one location.
If anyone knows of a source please contact me :) I think we got 4 or 5 ton last year. We still have 1 ton left so it's not urgent.
