So imagine I was driving down the interstate munching on my last wholemeal bread, hummus, sundried tomato, olive, and red onion sandwich. “Self,” I might say to myself, “I’m four states from home, and I just can’t face eating mystery minces in mystery greases. I need to find somewhere TODAY that sells actual fresh food, but I can’t afford an hour spent Googling, only to get lured another hour off my route by a three-years-obsolete search result. I’d be willing to divert from my itinerary fairly far, though, if I had GREAT information about a place I could resupply with healthy road food.”
Any fool can throw together an app that claims to report the times and locations of farmers markets. The last time I searched, there were multiple such. The difficulty lies in populating them with good info, and keeping that ever-changing info current. A good app would offer some sort of in-app verification that the listings were fresh and current, as well as having very comprehensive listings. The BEST app would give a notion of vendor distribution at a given market, so you don’t go to one looking for food if all it has is lavender
soap and pot holders crocheted from the underfur of a sweet
milk goat named Daisy Mae.
I’m not asking people to report back what they see in the app stores; I can look there too. I want to know if anybody has an app they actually use and genuinely trust to find farmers markets in a strange place.
Thanks!
