best rule is no lights by the doors, and if you have windows in the doors, cover them at night. they are attracted to lights, and when you open the door, they get in.
big exterior lighting draws em too. if you hear a loud whirring/clicking sound, make sure you don't have kissing bugs in the room. you can really hear em flying.
they hide in the cracks of old wooden buildings here in AZ.
