Learn how to retrofit two 275-gallon tanks (which can water about 1,000 sq ft) into a rainwater system for your home or business. Learn some of the permit requirements and design and installation principles. This is a two-part class. Attend both classes and leave with the resources and know-how to retrofit tanks for your own rainwater harvesting system.

Part I: This classroom session will cover the concepts, metrics, and mechanics of rainwater harvesting with tanks and general water conservation information. Tuesday, June 12 from 6-8pm

Part II: This session will be hands-on with step-by-step installation of a retrofit system. Saturday, June 16 from 9am-noon

Efficient Rainwater Irrigation Systems
Saturday, June 23, 9:00am - 3:00pm

Developing a well managed irrigation system that meets - not exceeds - the needs of your landscape is integral to efficiently using your water supply. Learn how to minimize your time and water bill by eliminating runoff, evaporation, and creating a watering schedule that is appropriate for your plants and soil. This is an excellent follow-up class to the Rainwater Catchment for Your Home. The water source we will be using in this hands-on in-the-garden demonstration workshop will be a gravity-fed rainwater drip irrigation system.

Registration: Pre-registration is required. Register online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/profile/113708, or call Hannah at 733.8307.

Instructor: Michael Laurie, Water Conservation, Energy Conservation, and Green Building Consultant

Cost: $40 members, $50 non-members

LOCATION: RE Sources Sustainable Living Center 2309 Meridian St. Bellingham WA 98225
