Solar distiller drip irrigation

Found this website via Facebook (it's in Spanish but you can translate). Seems like a great idea in dry climates. Only thing I don't like is the release of BPAs from plastic. I'm trying to think of other things to reuse for this.

Glass beer bottles would work in the ground to hold the water (as long as you're careful and won't knock it with a wheelbarrow) but a larger glass container over it might be harder to find. I thought about burying the beer bottles a little underground and then putting a large mason jar over that. Still, I don't have too many mason jars lying around that I don't want to use for canning.

Anyone have an idea?

You could also make an Air well or Fog fence. I did a quick search and there seems to be many feasible designs for harvesting water from the air.

Would it be feasible to just stick the beer bottles underground without something else over the bottle? Wouldn't the buried bottle still store water which will evaporate and improve the microclimate around where it's buried? If nothing is placed over the bottle to recollect the evaporation... perhaps the bottles should just be planted deeper to give the water vapor more room, i.e. underneath the plant roots. I wonder if placing a stick into the bottle and burying them together (bottle with stick poking out) would help channel water into the bottle along with channeling it's evaporation.
