I have the idea of constructing a rocket heater out of sauna rocks and sand mix. The idea is to construct a wooden core a
feed , a burn chamber and heat riser out of solid
wood, like a 4x4, only 8 inches thick. Pack it in a wooden box, cover it with sauna rocks and sand mix, until solid. Then fire it, burning the wooden core., leaving a
rocket stove with an 8 inch diameter for the feed tube, burn chamber and heat riser the walls of which would be the rocks and morter. Because the room is closet size 5ft by 4 ft, the idea is to omit the barrel and vent the heat riser with stove pipe out the wall, employing a damper to slow heat loss. Will this work?. Will the sauna rocks themselves , with the fire burning through them, radiate
enough heat for a space this size?. Also, if i surround the stove with brick or slate will that allow me to keep it near the wall? Any guidance is appreciated. I have limited space.
Another idea, much less elaborate it to build a
rocket stove with stove pipe run it through a cast iron wok filled with rocks, then encase the entire stove in a wire basket also filled with sauna rocks. I like the first idea better. I like the idea, when it is hot enough,, of pouring the
water right over the heated stove made entirely out of sauna rocks. Any recommendations?
