I'd like to blog-ishly share some of my thoughts on time management, from a design perspective.
Much of
permaculture design is about putting the right elements in the right associations with one another. A good design "pattern" among elements resolves conflicts, reduces waste and stress, and increases quality of life.
How we manage and spend our time is a conceptual pattern. I think of good time management as a structured alignment between our identity and our actions. When the two align, we feel "centered". When the two drift apart, we feel unsettled.
The connective tissue between our identity and actions is where we do some self reflection, critical thinking (since our thoughts are not always accurate or true or good), and design. The design can include conceptual elements like our values, purpose, vision or hopes for how the world could be, and long/medium/short term goals. The design can also include more
concrete systems, like calendars and checklists.
I draw this not as someone who has "figured it out" and has their life squarely in order, but rather to provide encouragement for myself and others to achieve goals and live life from a place of truth and integrity. That's what time management is about.
