Potted magnolias struggling

I dug up some magnolia seedlings 2 weeks ago. The biggest one (about 10 feet tall) looks like it’s dying but the leaves are still firmly attached and are sort of firmly clamped down against the branches. The cambium layer looks fresh & green still.

The holly looks terrible as well.

They will be planted soon on my 5-acre property but they are currently “resting” on my mother’s balcony where I can better monitor them and make sure they’re watered. The property is an hour away in the mountains.

The trees get morning sun and shade the rest of the day. I’ve been giving them 5-50-17 to feed the roots that I had to cut when I dug them up.
