I think I may have come up with a good idea. I've been struggling with the problem of whether or not we should be paying taxes if we have major moral issues with the way taxes are being spent. This lead me to this potentially ingenious idea. What if, when it came time to pay our taxes, we had a system where we could go through an itemized list of proposed expenses from which we could pick and choose what we felt we wanted to support financially?

Yes, I'd like my tax dollars to go toward:

( x ) Transportation ( ) Pentagon ( x ) Organic farm subsidies ( ) Big oil subsidies etc.

Seems like this should be incredibly simple considering our current state of technological advancement, especially in computers and social networking. I'm not totally sure on all the details yet. Should we have say on everything? Or are there some things that are critical to the smooth operation of our society, like road maintenance, that should be automatically required?

Now that I have this idea I think I must come up with a proper name for this new form of government. Seems like it's a hybrid between democracy and capitalism. My first thought was Democrapitalism, but that doesn't have a very good ring to it, so now I'm leaning more toward Direct Capital Democracy.
