Rent / Nanny trade -  $425 rent, plus 5 hours/month nanny care

Beautiful permaculture community household is seeking a 4th housemate to share large home 2 blocks from Greenlake.  We have a veggie garden, love to play music, share some meals, and have friends over.

We are:
Jenny – 40-ish Permaculture teacher and designer, plays piano, mandolin, loves to cook, bake, grow food, build things, and creatively change the paradigm Permaculture-style.  Works part-time, manages the household, and takes care our of 2 ½ year old boy Sacha.  www.permaculturenow.com

Michael – 50-ish yoga teacher, owns 3 yoga studios, including a new multi-use yoga / dance / live music / kids space.  Loves to dance, play drums, eat home-grown food, sing, play with the kids.  www.omculture.com, www.yogalife.com

Sacha – 2 ½-ish boy – loves to sing, do puzzles, help in the garden, cook, play games, and have wrestling matches.  Favorite song this week Bohemian Rhapsody.

Eliza – 30-ish – artist, carpenter, Montessori teacher (on sabbatical for one year), takes care of Sacha 10 hours/week.

You – fun, loves kids, clean, reliable income, into Permaculture at some level, eat organic and local when possible, clean, share chores readily, help in the garden, want to share some meals and cooking.  Bonus for Spanish-speaking and / or if you love to play music.

The Room - is on the main floor and is an 11’x 12’ bedroom with newly refinished wood floors, built-in shelves, and big windows, just off the living room.  It’s very private and faces west, so is sunny in the afternoons.

The House - The house: a large Cape Cod style house just a few blocks off South Greenlake that has been remodeled and fully insulated. There are four bedrooms, three on second floor and one on main floor. There is a full bathroom on the main floor (with tub and shower) and a full bath on upper floor (tub with hand-held shower). We enjoy fairly regular overnight visits with our friends and family (yours welcome too).

The main floor has a large living room and full bathroom. It connects to a huge kitchen with new floor, gas stove and dishwasher. Also connected to the kitchen is a huge carpeted 2nd living room that sits above a full garage. This room gets a lot of morning sun and is a great hang-out, play, yoga, music, movie space.

Connected to the garage is the washer/dryer and some storage. There is plenty of street parking that is safe. We are very close to several major bus routes, including one express bus direct to downtown.

The house is a five-minute walk to Greenlake, and very conveniently located near Whole Foods, Wallingford, the Roosevelt district, Latona Pub and several local restaurants, coffee shops and stores. We are only six blocks from a yoga studio which I run, so if you like to do yoga, we can work it into your ‘package’

We believe in a cooperative, sustainable, energy efficient, low carbon footprint household that shares meals, composts, recycles, etc. The household is mostly vegetarian. Light alcohol is ok, but absolutely no cigarettes, please!

We share all utilities equally on a per adult basis. We have high-speed wireless internet. The house is heated by gas and has insulated windows throughout. Leases are month-to-month - our lease runs through July 31 with an option to extend for several more years. We are looking for long-term renters but will consider shorter terms for interesting folks who are passing through. We require first month’s rent and a deposit equal to one month’s rent. First month’s rent will be prorated, depending on move-in date.

If you have gotten this far and are still interested, please send an email. Include your number (and maybe a photo?) so we can have a conversation before meeting. We look forward to meeting you!
