Pine Meadow Farm Center is a transformational place for learning, teaching and research. We operate a dynamic working farm, applying permaculture principles to relocalize agriculture sustainably, training new farmers and others in the arts of food production. Our goal is to be economically viable, ecologically sound, socially responsible and personally fulfilling. We also provide wholesome, healthy food, especially to low-income people and families. We are a non-profit organization sponsored by the Cascade Harvest Coalition.

We need a few live-in volunteer farmworkers willing to stay for a month or more. While there are not yet facilities set up for boarding live-in volunteers indoors, we do have a cushy pine forest you can camp in, community kitchens (indoor and outdoor), and we can accommodate trailers. We can provide in-season produce as well as eggs and some store-bought staples. While there is no monetary compensation, you would be working alongside our head farmer who has 20+ years of experience, so you might learn something (or he might learn from you-- it's all a cycle). Live-ins would be expected to perform 25 hours per week farm duties such as weeding, planting, harvesting, field maintenance, assisting with the animals on the farm, light carpentry, assisting with workshops and events, milking the goats, etc.

We are 20 minutes away from Spokane, Wa and 10 minutes away from Cheney, Wa. We have a 25 head dairy goat herd, a laying flock of hens, and a one acre market garden that we intensively grow rotating vegetable crops on for market. We are also in the process of adding a bramble patch and a strawberry patch so that we can offer delicious fruit!

We invite you to come, live and volunteer your time working outdoors at our beautiful location. We are just 4 miles from a nice natural lake that has good swimming(motors prohibited).

Contact Chrys at 509-217-2687 to make arrangements, or email us at zone1@pinemeadowfarm.org.

Please see our website, www.pinemeadowfarm.org for more information, to fill out our volunteer sign-up form (please indicate that you desire to be a live-in volunteer) and get directions to the farm. Please make arrangements before coming out to the farm.

Thank you.
