Job Title: Farm Manager
Location: 30+ Acre Property, Maui, Hawaii
Position Overview:
We are looking for an exceptional and self-directed Farm Manager to oversee the management and maintenance of a 30+ acre property on the beautiful island of Maui. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the current dwellings on the property, leading the implementation of agroforestry projects, and ensuring the property is sustainably managed in line with the vision of the landowners. This role requires a proactive individual with extensive experience in property management, new construction and agroforestry, capable of working with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
• Property Oversight: Ensure the upkeep, maintenance, and management of all dwellings and facilities on the property, including coordinating repairs and overseeing contractors as needed.
• Property Maintenance: Proactively manage and maintain the property by developing and adhering to a comprehensive service and maintenance schedule. This includes regular inspections, preventative care, and timely resolution of any issues to ensure the longevity and functionality of the property’s infrastructure.
• Agroforestry Leadership: Spearhead agroforestry initiatives, including planning, developing, and implementing sustainable agricultural systems that integrate trees and other perennial plants into the landscape.
• Sustainable Land Management: Manage the property using environmentally sound practices, with a focus on sustainability, soil health, biodiversity, and ecological balance.
Project and New Construction Management: Coordinate and manage on-site projects, ensuring that timelines, budgets, and goals are met. This includes working with contractors, vendors, and other partners.
• Resource Management: Oversee water catchment, irrigation systems, and other utilities critical to both the dwellings and agroforestry operations. Spearhead and oversee solar installation.
• Staff Leadership: Manage and supervise any on-site staff, laborers, or external consultants involved in property maintenance or agroforestry projects.
• Budgeting and Reporting: Develop and manage the property’s operational budget and provide regular updates on the progress of ongoing projects.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience managing large properties, including hands-on maintenance and facility management.
• Demonstrated expertise in large-scale agroforestry, permaculture, or sustainable agriculture projects.
• Ability to work independently, lead projects, and manage teams with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
• Knowledge of Maui’s local ecosystems, climate, and unique environmental conditions preferred.
• Experience in managing contractors and external service providers.
• Ability to oversee water, irrigation, and other essential infrastructure systems on a large property.
Compensation:
Attractive salary based on experience, with housing options available on-site (optional).

Chelsea, I happen to know of a husband/wife team who basically fits your requirements. They are currently working a farm in Kona, Hawaii Isand. Their current compensation package is $175,000 per year plus housing on-site and utilities. So whatever you are offering, it would need to be better in order to entice them to move. I’ve seen these two operate a large farm before in the Ka’u district , and can vouch that they are competent, capable, and reliable. They are not permaculturalists, but are good farmers and farm managers.

If you are interested, let me know and I will pass the information onto them. I can’t say if they would be interested in moving, but they could contact you if they might be.
