Regenerative Earthworks: Permaculture Design & Implementation Intensive

Regenerative Earthworks is a holistic approach to healing the land and making it more productive, using human scale labor and machinery to sculpt the earth. Slow, sink and store water in the landscape to mitigate drought and renew fertility. Learn how to build swales and construct ponds, dams and spillways. Regenerative Earthworks includes the application of biologically active compost teas, planting of various bio-accumulating and nitrogen fixing plants, the remineralization of the soil using amendments, the use of animals to enhance the biology of the soil, and use of mulch to conserve water and heal the exposed soil. According to Sepp Holzer 70% of our agriculture is completed when we have our water systems designed and developed. Without Regenerative Earthworks we have little chance at creating Regenerative Farming Systems.

~Gain experience as you survey, design, plan, layout and implement a real project

~Receive hands-on instruction on the use of: transits, A-frames, bunyip levels, hand held transits, machinery and maps.

~Learn techniques and strategies to mitigate drought and flooding

~Discover the 8 principles of Rainwater Harvesting

~Apply the ecological design process to uncover the design, planning and implementation of earthworks

~See functioning earthworks already in place on the Spiral Ridge Homestead

~Study mapping, contours, keypoints, swales, pond construction, dam walls, terracing, spillways, pipes, roads, and more.

~Restore fertility to the land with the use of cover crops, mulches, soil food web compost teas, and remineralization

~Explore ways to use animals to restore health to the landscape

~ Find out how to select plants and trees to accumulate nutrients, prevent erosion, cycle and hold water in the landscape
