Okay, this is a long shot.

I’m 32 and my husband is 42. We live in his house in unincorporated Monterey county. We have 2,000 square feet of sunny nice soil in the front yard that I’m turning into a vegetable garden. There is also space to do espalier fruit trees, berries, etc. The back “yard” is an inground pool and a simple gym set up (squat rack, barbell, dumbbells, airdyne bike).

I’ve WWOOFED extensively and spent several years living off grid on a beautiful homestead community a an hour away in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Living with my husband has been quite the adjustment— I miss having friends who feel more like family around, to share cooking, meals, projects, and visions. My husband and I want to start trying for our first child soon. My dream is to find another couple who we click with to live here (we have a nice empty bedroom— a couple could rent it for 2100/month but you could also work that number down through work-trade on the garden and various projects) who also want to start a family soon.

I envision us going through pregnancies at similar times so we aren’t weathering the experience alone. We can share childcare like we were meant to do instead of being isolated and alone in the postpartum period— and we will have the garden to work on and other fun projects to scheme (I’d love to build a sauna).

If this speaks to you, reach out. I know it’s a somewhat unconventional idea, but as a biologist, I feel that much of conventional modern practices are slowly hollowing out our souls.
