🔎 Seeking Work Trade for Room & Board – Skilled Volunteer (NC/Smoky Mountains Preferred)
Available in 3–8 weeks | Long-Term Preferred | Hostel or Land-Based Community OK, open to other options

Hi, I'm Sean, a 32 y/0 male and I’m seeking a work trade opportunity that includes room and board - ideally something long-term where I can become part of an ecologically minded community, homestead, hostel, or regenerative project.

I’m open to:
✅ 20–30 hrs/week for room & board
âś… Up to 60 hrs/week for additional compensation
🛠️ Skills I Bring:

I’m highly self-reliant, professional, and hands-on—with a broad skill set ideal for land-based projects or eco-tourism:

10+ years of indoor mushroom cultivation (climate-controlled, small-batch systems)

Greenhouse and nursery production (soil, planting, pest/disease management)

5 years of Off-grid solar design & installation

Wood gasifier builds – powering generators/engines with biomass

Certified Drone Technician – licensed & experienced in commercial, residential, and agricultural drone repair/mapping

Web, app, and software design – can help with websites, media, or digital tools

Social media & outreach – I can assist with content, promotion, guest communication

Degree in film production

Mechanical repair – I’ve maintained my own 7.3 diesel dually for over a decade

Comfortable with people or solo work – I’m fine behind the scenes or guest-facing

No pets – but I helped raise and breed German Shepherds with my parents as well as ducks, goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, guineas and rabbits

🧭 What I'm Looking For:

I’d love to join:

An off-grid homestead, eco-lodge, farm, ranch, intentional community community or a hostel/lodge that caters to hikers or travelers

A community or project that values resilience, skill-sharing, and long-term thinking

A place with clean, simple living – cabins or shared spaces are fine

Somewhere in or near Western North Carolina

🍳 A Few Details About Me:

I require a diet with a focus on animal protein—local and organic preferred, but I have no allergies or dietary restrictions and love all good food

I enjoy both independent and team-based work

I have a valid driver’s license and my own vehicle

I'm available to relocate in 3–8 weeks, depending on housing/setup

🤝 Let’s Talk

If you’re looking for someone reliable, experienced, and eager to dig in—I’d love to hear what you’re building.

Thanks for reading—I hope we can grow something together.

Warm regards

Good afternoon Sean,
I am in the process of starting an intentional community around the Cherokee County, NC area. Several projects on the agenda would be off-grid solar, garden to grow your own as well as community food.. really a lot to discuss right now. Basically goal is to live free as it was intended to be. Individual housing can be provided if that is something that you wish and seek. Basic fundamentals of respecting the community and its needs as well as the individual. I do not have any plans of having Internet of the property for personal reasons just to be open about that. You do have quite the skill set and I would like to discuss further. As far as “income” all of that can be arranged and discussed to make sure that your needs are met. Please feel free to email me at reguators7356@outlook.com or the one that is provided.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Cheers!
Joe
