We have a fire pit in our backyard. I saw an old video of Paul visiting a community and what appeared to be an outdoor rumford fireplace. He spoke about how more people could sit around it and nobody would get smoke in their eyes.

Can anyone recommend where to look for plans for such an outdoor setup?

Thanks

Search for "Rumford outdoor fireplace" with your preferred search engine.

You will need to shelter it, as it would be very susceptible to any breeze.

For efficient radiant heat, you might want to take a look at the horizontal feed batch-box rocket designs at Donkey's site.
