Hi all! My husband and I are rehabbing a 35 acre homestead in West Virginia. After spending some time updating the house, I've started expanding my efforts to the outdoors.

Currently, we have a small flock of Dominick chickens, and hope to expand and offer eggs and chicks starting spring 2014. I'm raising a dairy calf, as well as 2 horses. I was also recently gifted a breeding pair of Nubian goats, but have not determined that we will continue on with dairy goats vs changing to either meat goats or another livestock variety.

Immediate (6month)plans include:
1) preparing the garden plot for next spring
2) establishing bee hives on the farm
3) determining goals for long term livestock investments
4) installing a rainwater collection system

Hope to learn from all of you! Can't wait to start delving more deeply into the forums

Hi Sandy!

Welcome to permies!

Quite a lot of acreage and some nice plans you have -- yes, this is the place to learn a ton, for sure!

Best wishes,
Mariamne

Some really nice photos there. Summer or winter, it's almost heaven in West Virginia.
