I'm posting for my female farmer friend who has 80+ hidden acres in the Piedmont of Virginia...she's struggled thu the years and had a community of a dozen there for over a year but all have slowly drifted away for the bright lights of civilization...what's civilized about it?? She has donkeys, poultry, an ancient asean pear orchard...had a really neat high dollar specialty cash crop 2 seasons ago when she had help...jeruselum artichokes....the farm is reforming now with a couple people into off-grid there...it's pretty primitive but does have phone, very limited electricity and internet.

She'd like to find some agri-preneurs who'd like to start some ventures like

mushroom farming
meat rabbitry
quilting
flea marketing
goat herding
specialty cash crops
off-grid businesses

There is a very large but unfinished cabin...a usable sharecroppers shack, a handbuilt tool building...and an old dilapidated house used for storage. You can live here very cheaply if you're hardy...brainstorm some moneymaking crops/ventures...practice permaculture and off-grid living. Please no druggies, addicts, abusers, mentally ill...had enough of that. Since she does work crazy hours part-time, please send me an introductory email and contact info and I'll pass it along to her...generally takes about 3-4 days for her to respond...One liners get no response.

What would You like to do ?? She's very flexible and open to your ideas. Can be long-term for the right person.

hello my name is Jason Horton, My wife Jessica Horton and myself are seeking a farming opportunity much like you had described. We currently live in Gloucester Mass. with our 3 year old daughter Autumn, But are currently looking to move. Our dream is to farm on a small scale to be self sufficient and self reliant. Living off the land and breeding some animals too. then over time with perseverance , determination and hard work we can not only farm for our self but also for our community. I also intend to build a small insulated greenhouse where I will start up several Aquaponic setups. This will not only enable us good fresh fish and vegetables during the winter months but will become self sufficient/Renewable habitats that will let us also sell some fish and veggies and some fruit during the slower winter months bringing in some income. On top of that witch I have explained I have plenty of other great Ideas for self sufficiency/reliance with a goal of helping the community, Earth and each other.
Jessica, Autumn and I are first looking for a pre-existing farming family that would have the space to initially bring us in as a family and start off by working for our stay, witch I only can hope and pray will end up to be long term. I (Jason) have a multitude of skills that are assets to any labor style work. From being a commercial fisherman, Fence builder, Painter, Mason, landscape, electrical experience i.e.: marine, home, solar, wind. I also can Frame, install drywall, plastering, pointing stone walls. I was a heavy machine operator I have exp. in Hydraulics some diesel and gas mechanics. I also am a avid rock/ice climber have climbed and trim/take down trees and last but not least I apprenticed for 2 years to be a Ferrier/blacksmith while living and working for my stay on the farm, I can confidently trim horses and other animals and, I can ride.
If you are still looking to have a family move out work for room and board, and help get a small business up and going and even possibly become extended family then please contact us back at your earliest possible convenience.
my email is roscomerrywethr84@gmail.com
or call me directly anytime at 978-876-9996
thank you for your time and god bless, I eagerly await you response
Jason and Jessica Horton

Howdy!
My name is Mason. I have a small homestead farm in buckingham, va. I was wondering where your friend was located. Id really like to be able to connect with other folx in the area. We raise rabbits, ducks and pigs for meat and sale. We have a large garden interplanted with fruit trees. I also make a lot of salves and tinctures and have a passion for woodland medicinals.I live with my partener and we have a revolving door or housegeusts and short term land mates. We are very hardworking and would be happy about helping someone else with their projects.
If you would pass along our contact info that would be great!

Can my girlfriend and I come visit you when we plan our trip to Virginia? Are you anywhere near Charlottesville or Rockfish Gap? We have a dream about moving to VA. It's such an incredibly beautiful place.

This will take every ounce of my mental strength! All for a tiny ad:
