Here are a couple of down loadable books I found on Google books. They were written about the same era the woodlot is american and the forester in british. They are both interesting reading and show the difference in management between the two countries. Both have good points and bad points. Google books and Gutenberg Project both have lots of out of copyright on farming and old time skills and are well worth the time checking out.

The Farm Woodlot

The Forester
