Hobo spiders- chicken food?

We are researching the urban chicken's benefits.  One would be if they would eat the Hobo spiders on our property.  Do chickens like hobo's for a snack?

  They used to sell chicks here in the metro. When i first came to Madrid you could still hear a cocks crow ocasionally, it used to follow me round the house and let out peircing cheeps if it was left behind, they are meant to stay with the hen. It looked fluffy and useless but saw an ant on the kitchen floor and got that in a split second, they are machines as insect hunters, dead quick and accurate. Maybe they don't like hobo spiders, whatever they are, though.
    You could get yourself some chickens as pest controlers and give them to someone in the coutry once you resolved the problem, animals are kind of messy in the house. agri rose macaskie.

I suggest you find out for yourself.  chickens are relatively easy to come by.  if you're worried about hobo spiders, I imagine they will also be easy to come by.  introduce one of each and observe how their date goes.

my feeling is that a chicken would probably eat a hobo spider it saw running around.  whether or not it would pick one out of the bottom of one of those creepy funnel webs is less clear to me.

We had to capture/grab any spiders we wanted fed to our chickens, and by what accumulates in their house I'd say 'No' they won't hunt them.  Our chickens sit on their roost and leave the reachable spiders alone.... go figure.

I believe it's a combination of chickens just not starving enough to make the effort and something to do with their eyesight.  Spiders in webs or on walls can be very still, and blend in.
