Hello,
I'm starting the search for my next home in the PNW which I hope to move into around early 2027. I'm looking for a place to homestead. I've been lugging around a few fruit trees and berry shrubs for a couple years and all of us are ready to get our roots in the ground.
I have more than average experience with natural building, mostly with cob a little with straw bale, adobe, light straw clay and clay and lime plastering, earthen floors and some general building and maintenance experience. A few years ago I took a market garden internship and since then have worked on a couple veggie farms getting more experience growing and preserving more of my own food and caring for livestock like goats, pigs and of course chickens. I'm interested in getting more experience with cattle.
I grew up in the willamette valley of oregon and have worked farms from the northern valley down to northern california. Ideally I would love to live in or around the coastal hills of the willamette valley, but I am open to other options.
These last few years I have also been working at native plant nurseries and growing some of my willow basketry skills. There is a wide range of interests and experiences I expect to incorporate into my more rooted phase of life. So many possibilities. Life is short though and I have been learning more through my years (early 30's) about the balance of idealism and realism. I have some experience living in rural (1 hr to town) off grid situations and am aware of some of the inconveniences and struggles of this type of living.
So many thoughts, I'll leave it here for now. I am pretty private and would prefer private communication however possible. Send a message and I can shoot an e-mail address.
Thanks for reading everyone-
Robin
