How long does it take a honey locust grown from seed to express its thorns? I understand that I can and probably will end up with thorny trees from seed that I collected from thornless trees. It will determine where I place them if they become thorned or not.

I have seen thorns the first year on the handful I did. None of them lacked thorns the first year.
Not sure if some trees would express them later, but it seems like they start pretty young.

Thorns are easily visible on all the new volunteer seedlings around here before they are six inches tall.
