Join us June 12th and 13th at the Art of Living International Center for the
in Health, Agriculture, Meditation, Community  and Empowerment!

We will start with meditation and breathing, as the idea of having tools to relieve stress and calm the mind is an essential part of Deepening Roots. Then we will move into community development processes and look at some of the challenges that we face in relation to large-scale agriculture and food systems and work on action-based
solutions. Shifting to health, we will then look at the Deepening Roots food triangle, an easy approach to healthy eating. We will talk about enzymes, vitamins and minerals, sugars, fats and oils, and more as we prepare a few recipes and try some superfood products donated by Navitas Naturals (

Next, we will move to agriculture: understanding soil, composting, soil amending, mulch, planting by seed, transplanting, perennial and annual polyculture design and garden planning as well as kitchen gardening. We will then implement a simple design for the backyard!

You will leave the workshop with an array of delicious recipes that make you feel good and you will know exactly why they are so good for you. You will have the confidence to start your own garden and become an active participant in your local food system. This is an opportunity to connect with fellow community members on a deeper level, creating social change together.

The program is held at Art of Living's North American International Centre in the beautiful region of La Maurice, Quebec which is about two hours northeast of Montreal. The grounds provide a peaceful and serene natural environment with 250 acres of woods and five lakes.
