Outstanding Online PDC Course with Open Enrollment - PermacultureEducation.com

Our mission is to teach, consult, demonstrate, and support the discipline of Permaculture Design worldwide. The Permaculture Education Center is a not-for-profit, international venture, created by some of the leading Permaculture teachers in North America.

We offer the official 72-hour online Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) course and the Introduction to Permaculture Course, complete with tutoring and support from professional Permaculture designers and teachers.

Our courses are eligible for university course credits and continuing education credits in related disciplines (architecture, landscape architecture, sustainable agriculture, etc.). Our courses are also approved for Veterans VA and active military educational reimbursement benefits. All of our courses are accredited internationally by certified teachers who take students through the complete official curriculum in Permaculture Design as created by Bill Mollison.

Bill Mollison – Permaculture’s Co-Founder

Students completing a Permaculture Education Center PDC course receive an official, internationally-recognized, numbered, and recorded PDC Certificate signed by Dr. Alan Enzo and other highly-qualified instructors from the Nashville Permaculture Guild.

Our teaching methods are interactive, creative and designed to provide a low-stress and enjoyable experience for students. Both the Introduction to Permaculture course and the full Permaculture Design Course follow the official guidelines for teaching Permaculture as directed by Bill Mollison. The PDC course follows the topics in Mollison’s book, Permaculture: A Designer’s Manual, the foundation text of Permaculture Design.

Students study at their own pace. There are homework assignments and activities that must be completed for each section of the course. The instructors carefully monitor progress and are available to assist students via email and phone when needed. Our instructors are professional, patient and supportive, and are focused on the student’s needs.

In 1994, Bill Mollison and the Permaculture Institute realized that there was a great need for an online PDC course.

“The fact is that not everyone can afford to take 15-20 days off from work, pay for travel, food and lodging, and then pay $1,500.00 or more for the typical on-site PDC course.”

In addition to the economic and time barriers to attending an on-site Permaculture course, the Permaculture community realizes also that different people learn in different ways. Some would rather study from the comfort of home than travel, camp outdoors and listen to days of lectures. Some learn better with the traditional teacher-student model (classroom, lectures, etc.), and some prefer the convenience of the online learning platform.

What kind of people take a Permaculture Design Certificate Course online?

University student teams, led by a professor.
Aid workers, Emergency Management professionals, and missionaries (in-country or preparing to go), who want to take the PDC course together as a group.
People who want to learn at their own pace.
Those who work long hours or have young children at home.
Those who prefer the online learning format to sitting through days of lectures.
People who may already have a PDC from their local Permaculture group, but want to learn new methods and techniques from different teachers.
People who are isolated in remote parts of the world.
People who don’t have the money or time required to attend an on-site PDC course.
Our online PDC course is designed for those who want to digest the material at their own pace, and receive support and feedback from teachers experienced in Permaculture Design and other related disciplines.

Our PDC course is Open Enrollment - Start Anytime!

We offer Group Discounts, and a Payment Plan Option for those who need it.
