Hi Campy,
For the upper respiratory a few things you might try or look into come to mind:
1. Nebulize colloidal silver and inhale gently and deeply
2. Eat some raw fresh garlic (about 1 clove a day)
3. Mullein or mullein extract
4. Some form of Expectorant
5. Lots of sun and fresh air
This is not advise and I am not a doctor but it is where I would start if it were me. A combination of #2 and #5 are a good start and will benefit any additional measures taken.
However the addition of the fever is what concerns me most, it doesn't seem right that the fever would spike right after visiting the chickens, unless you are quite worn down already and the extra exertion of going to the chickens pushes your body over the top into fever... Anyway fever should never be taken lightly, especially if it is acute so please be careful.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
Jeff
