Hey folks

I've been posting on the site for a couple of weeks now, but never actually got around to writing an introduction.

I'm based in the central belt of Scotland, and have been interested in many of the subjects linked to permaculture (gardening, wildlife, ecosystems etc) since childhood (I was that kid you saw rummaging around in the hedge getting dirty). I'm enough of an oddball that I don't fit in particularly well (or at all, most of the time) in exploitative, abusive mainstream society (I think its values are, to say the least, deeply problematic), and I'm actively looking for ways to go and set up a forest garden and try to be self-sufficient and climate resilient. I'd be quite happy to move: I like Scotland, and there are many worse places to be, but I'm not set on dying here. There are a number of barriers to this (not least the fact that I don't think I can really go it alone, so if you think you might be a suitable partner* then a PM will be positively received, even if it's a polite thanks but no thanks) so, in the meantime I'm going to read, learn and interact with others with similar interests.

I believe very strongly in a lot of what I consider related values, about caring for each other, and for other life on this planet and its long term future, so I'm firmly in the vegan, Deep Green/green lefty camp on most subjects, and get along with the eco-feminists well enough to have positive discussions (compare and contrast intersectionality theory with support and inhibition networks in managed ecosystems, anyone?**!).

* especially if you think we might get along romantically
** in private, I know
! Take those organisms with an inherent advantage in the habitat, and then chop and drop (Remember, remember the Fifth of November...).

I need a new interior decorator. This tiny ad just painted every room in my house purple.
