In 2016 Arboretum Marbella is running two great permaculture courses side by side, an internationally recognised and certified introductory course and an advanced course for anyone who already holds a PDC certificate but wishes to develop this further.

The objective of this Permaculture Design Course (PDC) is to provide a solid foundation in permaculture so that one can contribute to life in a way that is environmentally aware and responsible. In addition, this course aims to support the transition to cultivating self-sufficiency and developing the personal empowerment to create change in one’s community and hence the world.

The Arboretum Foundation holds a permaculture course of excellence every year, with the support and contribution of leading professionals and activists, an amazing international and multi-disciplinary team that are working towards a positive change in today’s world. During the course you will study in small groups with people from all over the world, with an emphasis on real case studies that will equip you with the tools so that you yourself can make the changes that are so crucial for our society.

PDC 2016 is an educational experience that is informal, practical and based on nature, personal transformation and collective action. There are options to choose a 72 hour basic option which will result in an official permaculture certificate from Arboretum, or stay for the extended 104 hour course which gives you an official and internationally recognised qualification from the British Permaculture Association. Hi everyone, I just wanted to remind you that the Early Bird Discount for this course expires on August 1st, so you have just a few weeks to register at this special price.

I also wanted to give you a bit more information about the PDC Advanced Course 9-15th October with Aranya and Satish Kumar. This course is the first of its kind in Spain for people with a PDC certificate, or who has a lot of experience working within permaculture who want the opportunity to develop their skills or specialise in a certain area of permaculture under the supervision and direction of some of the world’s top teachers. You will be able to take part in a real project which is in the development phase, look at the current design and decide how to optimise it, under the guidance of Aranya, one of the UK’s most important permaculture teachers. You will work practically in the field for five days, with only 9 other students, in order to experience a personalised learning experience. In these five days, you can choose what you want to focus on and develop as a specialism, such as water management, design, soil, biodiversity, edible forests – anything which you feel will most benefit you and this project. I am pleased to announce that Arboretum Marbella has secured Erasmus Plus funding to be able to offer a special grant for students travelling from Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain and the UK and wishing to take part in this course.
