I came across this while reading Nutrition and Physical Degeneration by Westin Price, he says one indigenous group he encountered prevented and cured diabetes with this herb. 

I looked it up a on a couple sites and I guess the inner bark can be used to regulate insulin levels in the blood.  Does anyone have any experience with this?
