Permaculture in Sicily (looking for wwoofers)

Hi all

it's already a month now I'm helping in the south east of the island , in a county called Comiso.
The core of the project is to develop a place where to experiment in different ways over a hectare of land near the old US military base. The place was once the center of the pacifist movement and it was abandoned a decade ago. Now we are building a lab to work with pottery for the creation of pans and pots useful for healthy cooking. We are also involved (and I'm mainly organizing now this side) a garden for the self production of organic food that is obviously linked with the idea of healthy cooking and living. A small community with singles and family with kids is gathering around this place, little by little, but not always we have enough hands to speed up the work towards new stages.
So we'r currently looking for any willing volunteer who's interested in help in exchange of food and bed, who's into healthy living, community, ethic economy, organic forest gardening and so on and on the limit is just our imagination and will power!

My boyfriend and I were really intrigued by your post! we are going to be in Europe this autumn and are looking to WWOOF on a permaculture farm. I am Canadian and he is Irish and we currently live in Vancouver.  I am a registered nurse with 3 years experience, mostly in pediatrics and neo natal care. My boyfriend is an industrial designer with 2 years experience but has lots of experience with general labour / carpentry / manufacturing / workshop. We would be looking to start early October and would stay on the farm for min 2 months. We want to take this year to learn about permaculture / sustainable living and to one day hopefully have our own farm. our interest include gardening, music, reading, cooking, soccer, natural medicine and good times.

I'm now moving from the Vigna Verde project in Comiso to Valle delle Pezze in Ragusa Ibla's natural park one for a permaculture community camp (tipi and suck) where we are trying to also enstablish a community sufficiency, experimental policuluture, food forest and so on. Carpentry skills are always welcomed like the food from our beloved forests but any skill is a valid skill to trade and learn from!

My boyfriend Joel and I have plans for coming to Sicily towards the end of September.
Both, the project you are currently working on, and the pottery, where you were before sound really good!

I am currently doing my Masters in Peace, Development, Security and Conflict studies in Innsbruck, but I have done quite a viariety of small more practical jobs, I love doing things with my hands a lot!
Joel, who comes from New Zealand, studied Geology and Engineering, and has worked as such in London. He has worked as a builder a lot as well! When I met him in Napoli, he was just working as receptionist in a hostel 

So we are very open to all kinds of activities, and would love to hear more about your project and get in touch!
