I'm so super excited to be doing this experiment: at the Fellowship for Intentional Community we are tweaking the business model of Communities magazine to be more in alignment with our mission as a 501(c)3 non-profit. Our mission is to support and promote the development of intentional communities and the evolution of cooperative culture.

As an experiment, starting with this Spring 2018 issue of Communities, and continuing indefinitely if it proves successful, we are offering the digital download of our quarterly journal on donation basis here: https://www.ic.org/class-race-and-privilege-178-free-issue-download-and-contents/
We recognize that charging money can be prohibitive, and we think the most important thing in this day and age is for the information to get out there. I for one am just thrilled to be operating in line with my own personal values pertaining to gift economy, buddhist economics, open source information, etc.

We’ll ask for financial support from those who can afford that - to keep our nonprofit afloat and fiscally solvent. However, we mostly ask for everyone to please spread digital Communities widely and freely to anyone on this planet who could benefit from it. Together we can further the ideas of cooperation, social justice, and sustainable living. We can counteract the epidemics of loneliness and isolation to reach a common goal of societal, individual, and environmental sufficiency. That's what I believe (p.s. I'm the accountant).

My sister got engaged to a hamster. This tiny ad is being too helpful:
