This summer, Bahia Beach Construction is offering opportunities for folks from all around to come collaborate with our coalition of builders and community members striving to rebuild communities with sustainable green technology through harnessing the power and strength of locally sourced species of bamboo. Participants will receive lessons and instruction from world renowned Ecuadorian architectural professors, carpenters, and bamboo farmers who have been actively rebuilding since the earthquake, as well as have the opportunity to collaborate with local university engineering and architecture students. It is critical now more than every to be turning to the areas of the planet experiencing devastation from climate change and understanding the patterns of innovation and resilience that emerge from people to then be translated into active solutions and progress.

Currently, we work to run supplemental green infrastructure courses for college students from over 10 universities, and after participating in a Dome Gaia workshop we received an incredible amount of demand to host a non-student trip on our new bamboo agroforestry farm. On this farm we are currently building a full on bamboo cultivation, curing, and carpentry training compound. What sets this trip apart is that folks from all over will have the opportunity to build structures with us start to finish while completing our bamboo cultivation and carpentry course, as well as have the option to design and create original designs on the farm with tools and materials provided! One of the many things we hope to create a platform for during this workshop is experimentation with knowledge of other natural and alternative builders from all walks of life.

Participants will also be instructed in the usage of tools with the ultimate goal of building a community structure and help develop our new ecological education center, bamboo treatment and training facility, and agroforestry cultivation operations in rural region of Chone. See more information on registration, payment, the people behind our movement, photo gallery of our constructions, and more here on our website! Please also see attached informational flyer and 4-page program brochure.

Please contact Program Coordinator, Maya Boone mayaboone@berkeley.edu if you are interested in attending an info session so we can set up a Facetime/Skype/in person meeting to get you all the information you need!

Hope to have you join our team!

If a tomato is a fruit, does that mean ketchup is a smoothie? What if we mix in a tiny ad?
