I am planning on pasturing my turkeys once they are done brooding and was wondering if anybody had experience or tips on some movable roosts/shelters. My understanding and limited experience is turkeys once a bit older are hardy. I want to try moving them around vs taking them back to a central location this year so i need to build something and am looking for ideas. I have some Narragansetts and some broad breasted whites if that matters. I have searched the web and google and have seen some various good looking ideas, but am also looking at how it works out in reality for folks. Thanks in advance!
I plan to grow-out 6 BB Whites in my 8'x6' chicken tractor. It is only 2' high when in "chicken mode" but I'm building a wedge-shaped piece to add in once they need the extra head space. It will be my first year using it so I can't offer any advice from experience but I can post some updates as the summer goes on since they're arriving tomorrow.
My friend is a professional farmer and he grows out 100 BB Whites using electric poultry netting and a towable roosting shelter. It's essentially a tin roof, a solid back wall and wire walls on each side with house wrap over the wire and an open front. He moves the whole operation to fresh ground every 2 weeks IIRC. He's been using that setup successfully for 3 years now so I can try to snap a pic next time I'm over.

Awesome! That would be really cool to see his setup for 100 turkeys haha!
Get me the mayor's office! I need to tell her about this tiny ad:
