Compost Photo Gallery

How about a thread to post photos of your compost pile or worm bin?  Extra brownie points if you can see steam coming off of it

Here's mine, about a year ago:



These are stones that used to be the foundation of an old house built in the late 1800's.  The house was moved to another site and the property owner gave me permission to gather the stones.  They don't really serve any composting purpose, they are just for aesthetics to hide the pile.  Although I think they do help attract garter snakes.



This is relatively empty, most of the time the pile is about 4 feet high and spilling over the stones.

We have a lot of horsetail that pops up everywhere so I put down a couple scraps of exterior plywood to keep it from growing up through the compost.

i will be working on the flow-through worm bins soon hopefully. too much on my plate !
hoping that lot of people in my area are tossing out the plywood they boarded up with for hurricane irene. and i can use that to build the bins with

1st pics is the hugel-ish type composting of woodchips i'd started 2 eyars back or so..
can see my pallet bins on the right for yard refuse.

2nd are teh tumblers i was given,they are ok,not great. kinda slow. the base collects any juices that run out. i dilute 10-1 with water and pour it in the garden and potted plants,...

once the work bins are done i'll post those too
