Re: eucalyptus as firewood....about 50 years ago my family lived at the edge of about 30 acres of eucalyptus trees and we used the branches that blew down and various thinnings as firewood.  My father later told me that when green it was some of the wettest and heaviest wood he had ever handled but it cut and split very easily.  However, once it dried it was like trying to split a rock.  Very hard and burned very hot.  So be sure you work it up before it dries out.

That depends  But we don't want to use this for a fence but rather to seal the lumber used for a raised bed in our garden area.

Home Depot carries this "TriCoPolymer VOC Free Non Toxic 1 gal. Clear Satin Fence-Seal" but I always wonder just how non-toxic something actually is.  Does anyone have any more information on this particular product?

" I'm looking at 4x4 field fencing for permanent fencing.  I'm thinking this will keep in sheep/AGH and coyotes out. "  I would not be comfortable counting on 4"x4" fencing to keep coyotes out.  I watched a neighbor dog, about the size of a coyote, go through a fence that size.  He had to work at it and it took a few minutes but it was possible. We use 2"x4" field fencing with barbed wire on top, for coyotes and neighborhood dogs.  We lost two milking does (goats) and two goat kids to dogs before we put the barbed wire on top.  Saw one dog climb the fence (before the barbed wire was installed in loops, like you might see in prison pictures) on his way out after taking the tail off of one of our next batch of does.

" I hope to eventually select for a reliably non-bitter lettuce. "  Joseph, we live south of you in north-eastern Arizona and look forward to your results with the lettuce!

Perhaps this is forbidden or maybe I'm just not doing it right.  I sometimes come across some comments in a forum that i would like to save for future reference and so I attempt to save/print the page as a pdf.  What I end up with is the background color but no printed words.  Currently I am using an Android tablet.  Can anyone advise?  Thank you.
