My RMH is in the basement my mass will be a vertical 275 oil drum covered in clay/sand mix. Should the mass be insulated from the cellar wall or use the wall as mass also?

I would say your heat riser is too short. On mine I used 2 pieces of clay tile for the riser. Well I should say I will before the week is out.
