I keep a lidded 13 inch skillet sitting in a 16 inch skillet on the bottom rack of the oven. I keep my pizza stone on the middle rack. It takes longer to preheat but the thermal mass keeps it really hot which is awesome for baking and even more awesome for pizza night when you have to open it every ten minutes to rotate a pie or put in a new one

So I'm talking to folks and trying to do my due diligence but I really have no idea what to do now. I'm married to this business but I am having the most difficult time wrapping my head around how to get some startup capital. Does anybody have experience starting this way?

I've read Restoration Agriculture and have even gifted a couple of copy's. I like the acres over acres design / philosophy. I appreciate Shepard's model and will try to integrate into my operation. However, Walter Jeffries and his blog gives me the most inspiration.

I always will. There's a small shop on the owners portion of the property that they've expressed an interest in growing. I have a powermatic 66 and a small jointer and planer I'll probably contribute to the situation. I need money for the farm op so I might sell the tooling to facilitate that.

So I've been working as a cabinetmaker in NYC for about ten years now. It's been very interesting to say the least. Being raised in KY I've always had a thirst for the wilds. After many years of fantasizing and shit talking I've gone and done the deed.....or the lease , I should say. I've signed a 20 year lease on 80 acres of (mostly) pasture and also gone and purchased some pregnant pigs and several hundred Barred Rock pullets. I have to admit that it may have been a wee impetuous. There's not a run of fence on the place that don't need mending or replacing and I reckon I need about 3000 more feet of field fence to be built. But I'm confident and reasonably intelligent. I'm married to this operation and if it dies it's cuz I did first.

As a builder, a transit level has proven invaluable. I will definitely be using it to survey my property this summer. While I've spent over 1500 clams on my setup, a person wanting to survey their property can do a very good job of it with a 450 dollar setup and some flags. I prefer using multiple colors. The contrast is very helpful. A laser and indicator work anytime and is the most accurate option available.

That is fantastic, Josh! At what height are these contraptions mounted? If you have pictures I sure would like to see some.
