Unique permaculture, homestead opportunity in NW Bulgaria. £15000

A realistically priced 1.5 acres or 6 deka plot unique in its location, size and huge potential.

Opportunities like this are rare undeed here in Bulgaria, requiring a long, arduous and expensive process ro procure.

Perfect for homesteading there is also huge potential for retreat based incomes, woodcraft and other sustainable incomes or practices.

It cmmands stunning views whilst offering privacy and security by the natural perimeter systems.
It also borders endless public grazung land and mixed woodland.

The land its self  has an established plum orchard and loads of nut and fruit trees.

Present usage is natural beekeeping and chickens.

A spring supplies all our potable water, mains water doing the rest. Though bore holes are easy and reliable to install.

Two farmhouse are on the property with foundation walls of the old big barn two.
Current accommodation is tiny house style. Hand crafted for a family of four.

If anyone is interested please send me your email and I will gladly send you a word doc with more details and loads of pictures.

We sadly pass on the caretakership of this lovely place due to another permaculture opportunity.

All the best

That's about the long and short of it. Widely used here in Bulgaria, well made and I've seen them in use in the scandy countries too.
We have used just tree and vine trimmings to power the stand alone units all winter - we are now in the cross over time and switching to our solar system - hurrah!!!

If the place is right and on your own then maybe keep it simple.
Is there a need to heat the whole place.
Can you live simply in one room say to begin with.
Then re-engineer the place to suit at your leisure.
As always it depends.

Hope this helps a little.

Hello all.
Not sure if this helps but I posted this today in the wood burning forum - not sure how to paste it direct here either - sorry.

Greetings Erica and Ernie I think your gonna like this.

Here is my latest purchase in an effort to make water heating less of an effort in our current make shift accommodation. Its a white tank with mains water inlet and outlet and you stick it inline with the chimney system. 'Bulgarian standard' as we say here.

Specs.
40 liters.
Working pressure / работно налягане 0.05 M Pa.
Test pressure / пробно налягане 0.40 M Pa.
That's all the info I have.

The nice little man in the shop assures me its safe and has safety features fitted........I am of course in the process of finding out more but they seem to work and I haven't, as yet, heard any boom-squish stories.
I also enclose some pictures of the stand-alone systems available here too. Either solid fuel or electric and solid fuel. I will be fitting the rather cute solid fuel version in our next shower house. It both warms the room and heats the water - nice touch I think. They are not the ultimate in solutions but I thought you might like to see these systems which have been used here for many years now in various shapes and forms.
They look and work a bit rockety but also look so dangerous.

Enjoy and I will try and get more info soon from the manufacturer.

Hi Rob - Bulgaria is a true hidden gem of a place - Paragliding brought me here - the nature, landscape and people kept me here - Permaculture and family now keeps me here.

The past is kept alive with the continued habitation of earthen houses here in BG. Its the norm now for most to foam the outside walls then cement/lime or epoxy render. But its a testament to the durability of the adobe and of course, a good hat and boots, that even without a traditional or modern render most of these, sometimes over a 100 yrs old, properties are still going strong.

I would be happy to post some more pictures - any aspect in particular you are interested in? In the mean time here is a pic of one of our super modern, honey processing plants.

My Pleasure - I hope you liked the use of bottle tops - my favorite key method so far - with regards originality.
All the best and feel free if you would like better images or info - I have plenty both internal and external of rendering and construction. I'm in the process of designing our new natural house at the moment. Cob, straw/clay hybrid it seems at the moment....... with render..... but maybe no bottle tops.
